What kind of food is this?

In dogs, macadamia nuts are known to cause hind-leg weakness, wobbling, vomiting, and tremors—a reaction unlike other nuts.

Even though they are all 'nuts,' they cannot be lumped together with walnuts and the like. They also turn up chopped into chocolate treats, cookies, and ice cream.

Nuts cannot be lumped together

Though all called "nuts," they are quite different as plants. Walnuts can be fed with care, while macadamia nuts should not be fed at all — the handling differs by type. Check each one by name.

They may also be coated in chocolate, or chopped into cookies and ice cream, so they are not always visible as whole pieces.
