What kind of food is this?
Oil pressed from sesame seeds. Per 100g: 41000mg linoleic acid and 310mg alpha-linolenic acid.
Linoleic acid is an omega-6 essential fatty acid, needed for maintaining the skin barrier and coat in dogs.
Sesame oil also contains plant compounds called sesame lignans, such as sesamin and sesamolin, studied for links to antioxidant activity.
Despite the similar name in Japanese, perilla (egoma) oil is quite different: perilla oil centers on omega-3 ALA, while sesame oil centers on omega-6 linoleic acid — very different roles for the fatty acids.
How to serve
It has a strong aroma, which makes it an easy oil to use for adding flavor.
