Can dogs eat Plain yogurt (unsweetened)?

Plain yogurt (unsweetened)(プレーンヨーグルト(無糖))

Safe to feed

A fermented milk that provides lactic acid bacteria along with calcium.

56 kcal per 100 g

What kind of food is this?

Milk fermented with lactic acid bacteria. Per 100 g: 56 kcal, 3.6 g of protein, and 120 mg of calcium.

During fermentation the bacteria use up part of the lactose, so the lactose situation differs from plain milk. It does not drop to zero, though.

Lactic acid bacteria are known for their connection to gut health, but whether they work as 'probiotics' depends on the strain, the product, and whether the bacteria are still alive in it. Not every yogurt works the same way.

Milk-based protein and calcium, with the added character of a fermented food.

How to serve

Use the plain type with no added sugar or sweeteners. For dogs whose stomach is easily upset by dairy, watch how they respond as you feed it.

When you have these care goals

Gut and stool care — A fermented food containing lactic acid bacteria. (Choose unsweetened.)

In food-energetics terms

In food-energetics terms it is classified as 'neutral.' It is thought to neither warm nor cool the body.

(Food energetics is a long-standing idea of supporting the body through everyday meals. Treat it as one extra hint alongside the nutrition numbers.)
